WELCOME TO THE JUICE PROJECT.COM

We believe that everyone deserves a place in their community and this is the place to be!

After extensive research, thejuiceproject.com opened for business in November 2009. A brand new juice bar serving healthy, delicious smoothies, salads, sandwiches, snacks, light meals with quality hot drinks also available. No alcohol is served. Our ground floor has full disabled access – please use the door on Stortford Road.  We offer baby changing facilities, have a buggy ramp, buggy park and toys – we love children!

Two key aims of the project are:

to provide a friendly place to meet and relax for the whole community, during the day and in the evening;

to offer employment and training to young people who are out of work and not in education.

Profits from the cafe are used to pay for all the training and to subsidise prices so that everyone can afford healthy food and drinks. With every visit you are helping to make a difference!

There is comfortable seating and free access to computers for browsing the internet or playing games. Free WiFi access for personal laptops is also available.

thejuiceproject.com is a social enterprise business. Many commercial businesses would consider themselves to have social objectives, but social enterprises are distinctive because their social or environmental purpose is central to what they do. Rather than maximising shareholder value their main aim is to generate profit to further their social and environmental goals.

Well known examples of social enterprises include The Big Issue, Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen, and the fair-trade chocolate company Divine Chocolate.

The 2005 Annual Survey of Small Businesses UK found that there are 55,000 social enterprises in the UK with a combined turnover of £27 billion. Social enterprises account for 5% of all businesses with employees, and contribute £8.4 billion per year to the UK economy.
